Luanda, ANGOLA, February 14 - The Draft Law on State Budget for 2018 received Wednesday the final thumbs up during the 6th Ordinary Plenary Meeting of the 1st Legislative Session of the IV Legislature of National Assembly. ,

The MPs approved an increase of AKz 46.4 billion to boost education sector. While the health sector benefitted from AKz 34.9 billion.

 

The added funds will allow these sectors to hire 20,000 new teachers for primary and secondary education, as well as 1,500 physicians and more than 200 nursing and diagnostic technicians throughout the country.

 

The 9.6 trillion Budget, which also sets the expenditure in the same amount, was approved by the ruling MPLA party with 136 votes in favour.

 

While, the opposition CASA-CE, PRS and FNLA (18) abstention and the main opposition UNITA (50) against.
