Parkview Contracts With BridgeHead to Manage Backup Environment

Platinum Maintenance service provides medical center with daily managed backups along with ongoing maintenance and software upgrades, freeing up hospital IT staff

WOBURN, Mass. and ASHTEAD, United Kingdom, Feb. 13, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BridgeHead Software, a leader in healthcare data management, today announced that Parkview Medical Center, located in Pueblo, Colorado, has selected the company’s Platinum Maintenance service. Parkview, which offers general acute healthcare and behavioral health specialty services, decided to upgrade to Platinum Maintenance to effectively outsource the day-to-day management and operation of the hospital’s BridgeHead backup and archiving environment. This service ensures Parkview’s critical healthcare data is safeguarded and quickly recoverable from loss, corruption or other disasters by industry experts, with minimal effort and resource from Parkview’s own staff, allowing them to focus on more pressing and important projects.

As an existing customer of almost 10 years, Parkview was already successfully using BridgeHead’s solutions to protect its EMR data. However, after upgrading to MEDITECH 6.0 in 2013, the medical center’s backup needs grew exponentially from 11 servers to 70 servers which, in turn, increased the complexity and thereby the amount of time and resource spent on the day-to-day management of the center’s patient data. It was at this point that Parkview started to consider alternative strategies to protect their mission critical data. This resulted in the medical center deepening its long relationship with BridgeHead to take advantage of Platinum Maintenance.

“All our doctors, nurses and lab technicians rely on the seamless availability of the MEDITECH system, so it just makes sense that when we shrink the potential for any time loss, it’s to our benefit. We have our BridgeHead engineer to thank for ensuring that our backup process runs smoothly,” said Bill Mead, Network Administrator & Engineer, Parkview Medical Center. “When we contracted with BridgeHead for Platinum Maintenance, I was finally able to sleep at night. If MEDITECH backups fail, we fail—that’s our bread and butter. Platinum Maintenance resolves those issues for us.”

Acting as part of an IT department’s de facto support team, highly experienced BridgeHead staff assume the daily responsibility of managing a customer’s backup environment, including product updates, expert configuration and job monitoring, resolution of any software issues, and error alerting – freeing up the center’s IT staff to better focus on more important tasks at hand. In addition to overseeing the hospital’s backup environment, Platinum Maintenance provides customers with an annual review and report of the operational state of their BridgeHead backup and disaster recovery environments as well as a discussion of upcoming facility projects that could change the technical environment.

“Removing the burden of overseeing and troubleshooting the backup process allows the Parkview IT team to provide an even higher level of service to the hospital, so both the IT staff and administrative executives know that critical data backups are occurring on time, as needed,” said Kenneth Wilson, Vice President, Global Technical Support at BridgeHead Software. “We look forward to continuing this partnership with Parkview Medical Center through ensuring the protection of their mission-critical EMR data and delivering the peace of mind that our Platinum Maintenance service provides.”
