Bissau: PAIGC pays tribute to Angolan nationalist

The recognition was expressed Monday at a formal closing ceremony of the IX Ordinary Congress of the PAIGC, which re-elected Domingos Simões Pereira for the party's leadership.
Brito Sozinho said that he was teacher at the PAIGC pilot school in Conacry, a party that mobilised Guineans and Cabo Verdeans for independence.
During the homage ceremony, the Angolan nationalist Brito Sozinho, who currently serves as Angola's ambassador to Mozambique, received the Amílcar Cabral medal, the highest distinction of the PAIGC.
Brito Sozinho was the MPLA representative, the ruling party in Angola, at PAIGC in Conacry during the liberation struggle.
The ceremony was witnessed, among others, by the Secretary for International Relations of the MPLA Politburo, Julião Mateus Paulo, who headed a delegation of the ruling party in Angola to the event.
