Evangelist William Lightner talks education, life and enlightenment
William Lightner has spent a lifetime traveling the world, spreading the word of God.
MARIETTA, GA, UNITED STATES, January 26, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Now a well-renowned and highly-respected motivational speaker, he credits much of his success to the education he received growing up.Having attended a private Baptist school from seventh grade, he later attended Vestal High School, where he graduated with honors.
Following graduation, William Lightner made the decision to continue his education at Judson University, an evangelical Christian liberal arts university located in Illinois.
"Judson University was an outstanding college for me because of the higher education setting and their worship of God," explains Lightner.
Founded in 1963, originally called Judson College and named after American Baptist missionary Adoniram Judson, it became Judson University in 2007.
"The university made me into the man I am today," says Lightner. "Understanding the importance of personal relationships, but also my relationship with God was such a big part of my college experience."
Lightner can't praise it enough. He went on to graduate with honors, earning a Christian Religion and Philosophy Degree, and later, a Bachelor of Arts degree in both of the same fields of study.
He's a man of many talents, with the accolades to provide it. Further to the above, Lightner also boasts a Master of Arts degree in Divinity—or "magister divinitatis" in Latin, often the first step towards ordination to the priesthood—from Clarks Summit University in Northeast Pennsylvania.
What's more, he's spent time as a licensed financial adviser, and prior to undertaking his global travels, worked for a Wall Street investment firm.
It's a world away from his life now as a motivational speaker.
It was after time in the military, working in finance, and following a stint in executive sales that William Lightner made the decision to give it all up. Instead, he would travel the globe, serving God as an evangelist.
He joined Lay Witness Mission, who teach what it means to live as engaged followers of Jesus Christ, inspired to listen to God and tell of his love throughout their lives.
"Lay Witness Mission holds a special place in my heart," says Lightner. "They got me started with speaking and traveling the world. I'm forever appreciative of the chance they gave me."
In his years as a speaker, Lightner has spoken to huge crowds and personally helped hundreds of people around the world to find comfort in God.
Alongside the Lay Witness Mission, Lightner teaches that we should acknowledge fellowship, and gain faith through prayer, with a view to living a sounder life as a follower of Jesus.
Lightner credits his education with the life of travel, worship and enlightenment he's been afforded; a life well lived.
But looking back, is there anything he'd change?
"Absolutely not," says Lightner. "I wouldn't change a thing."
