Day of Service with Jovenes Por Puerto Rico, ALPFA Puerto Rico chapter and ALPFA Board members

The ALPFA National Board traveled to Puerto Rico this past week to hold its final Board meeting of 2017 in San Juan, Puerto Rico

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, December 5, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- ALPFA changed the location for its last National Board meeting of 2017 to Puerto Rico to send a clear message of support to the Puerto Rican people on their efforts to recover from the devastation caused by hurricanes Maria and Irma and to raise awareness of the precarious situation most of the Puerto Rican population is still facing.

“All ALPFA Board members and I are happy to be here raising awareness of the needs that the Puerto Rican community is still facing. It’s also important to demonstrate that one of the best ways to help is to come back and do business here with the Puerto Rican people. Let’s remember that Puerto Ricans are also Americans and need our help.” said Charles Garcia, CEO ALPFA.

“We also wanted to thank our corporate partner BDO for their hospitality and for hosting our Board meeting at their corporate headquarters in the island” added Mr. Garcia.

ALPFA Board members also volunteered in the community with Jovenes Por Puerto Rico, and the local ALPFA Professional chapter, personally handing out meals in Maricao and San Sebastian, two towns that were devastated by the hurricanes.

Yvonne Garcia, ALPFA Chairwoman said: “it is heartbreaking to see the level of devastation hurricanes Maria and Irma caused and the widespread suffering still going on. We appeal to our ALPFAmilia to come together to support our Puerto Rican community still suffering. I encourage ALPFA members and non-members alike to visit our ALPFA.org website, where we have set up a direct link to a variety of organizations currently providing aid on the island.
