Luanda, ANGOLA, November 14 - National media outlets have been told to adapt their editorial lines to the current context of the country, giving more voice and space for the citizens from various social strata and civil society. ,

 

The recommendation was made Tuesday by the President of Republic, João Lourenço, hoping to see a press devoted, through this editorial line, to the public interest.

 

Addressing a swearing in ceremony of the new Media CEOs, the president advised the new managers to  reach break-even point in order to respond to the public interest.

 

According to him, only with freedom of expression and press the country can move towards true democracy, as these are the rights enshrined in the country's Constitution, and must be respected by all.

 

Aware of the hard task in the sector, João Lourenço said he believed in the skills of the professionals and their interpretation, taking into account the current political moment of the country.

 

He recommended the editorial of the International Public Television Channel of Angola (TPA) to focus on the world, rather than restricting to the citizens abroad.

 

During the ceremony, the President João Loutenço swore in the CEOs of the Public Television of Angola (TPA), National Radio of Angola (RNA), News Paper (Edições Novembro) and  Angola Press Agency (Angop).

 

The State Run Media CEOs were appointed by the President under decree dated 9 November, 2017 for five-year term.

 

The ceremony was attended by vice President of Republic, Bornito de Sousa, ministers, State Secretaries, and senior officials of the President of Republic.
