President pays homage to gen. "Gato"

Luanda, ANGOLA, October 25 - President João Lourenço Wednesday in Luanda paid homage to deceased gen. Ciel da Conceição Cristóvão "Gato", who died of disease on Fridady (20 October) here. ,

In the condolence book open at the Army Headquarters, João Lourenço wrote that “Angola has just lost one of its best sons, a brave combatant for the country’s freedom and sovereignty.”

The Angolan vice president, Bornito de Sousa, the Parliament speaker, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, presiding judges of various courts, Government officials and MPs also paid homage to retired gen."Gato".

Ciel Conceição Cristóvão "Gato", whose remains were buried at the Luanda’s Alto das Cruzes cemetery, was 72 years of age.

General “Gato” was a ruling MPLA party’s Central Committee member and Angola Air Force commander after the country’s  independence on 11 November 1975.
