Gazprom, CNPC, and KazMunayGas sign Memorandum of Understanding
Background
The 7th St. Petersburg International Gas Forum is being held as part of the Energy Efficiency and Energy Development International Forum 'Russian Energy Week.'
CNPC, a state-owned oil and gas major, is Gazprom’s main partner in China and one of the largest integrated energy companies in the world.
PetroChina is the largest Chinese company engaged in oil and gas production and marketing. The majority stake of PetroChina is owned by CNPC.
KazMunayGas National Company is a Kazakhstani operator for exploration, production, processing and transportation of hydrocarbons, representing the government in the domestic oil and gas sector.
On November 7, 2016, Gazprom and CNPC signed the Memorandum to explore the opportunities for cooperation in the NGV sector.
On May 15, 2017, Gazprom, CNPC, Avtodor, and China Communications Construction Company inked a Memorandum of Cooperation for the purposes of developing the Europe – China international transport route. The document is aimed at fostering cooperation between the companies in developing the route’s road infrastructure and promoting the use of liquefied natural gas as a vehicle fuel along the said route.
