Director of Media Affairs Tjiuai Kaambo invited to Germany

Tjiuai Kaambo, Director of Media Affairs in the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, has been invited to participate in a regional group visit to Germany, themed “Ethics and the Media”.

The visit takes place from 28 May until 03 June 2017 and is part of the Visitors Programme of the German Federal Government.

Together with other journalists, editors and media owners from other Southern African countries such as Botswana, Zambia and Mozambique, Mrs Kaambo will have the opportunity to familiarize herself with the pluralistic media landscape in Germany. The programme will include visits with representatives of political actors such as the German Federal Parliament, the Foreign Office as well as diverse media organisations such as the Deutsche Welle, ARD, Zeit and Spiegel Online. In addition, the group will visit the Henri Nannen School, the journalist school of Europe’s biggest publishing house “Gruner + Jahr” as well as examples for new forms of independent and investigative journalism in the digital age such as “Correctiv”.

On 17 March 2017, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Namibia, Christian Schlaga presented Mrs. Kaambo with her letter of invitation at the embassy.
