DENVER, February 15, 2017 – Colorado Petroleum Council Executive Director Tracee Bentley strongly slammed a report released today by the University Of Colorado School Of Public Health.

“This is more of the same and an attempt to undermine energy development and jobs in Colorado,” said Bentley. “We are disappointed to see someone purposely trying to mislead the public and skew the facts.”

This same group has conducted a similar study before that includes data not matched by state regulators, according to API.  

“This is a deliberate misuse of data by someone with a political agenda, and we need to stick with the facts,” continued Bentley. “The facts are that Colorado’s oil and natural gas industry works with the state to foster the responsible, balanced development, production, and utilization of the natural resources of oil and gas in the state of Colorado in a manner consistent with protection of public health, safety, and welfare, including protection of the environment and wildlife resources.”

The Colorado Petroleum Council is a division of API, which represents all segments of America’s oil and natural gas industry. Its more than 625 members include large integrated companies, as well as exploration and production, refining, marketing, pipeline, and marine businesses, and service and supply firms.
