NEW BOOK ' SAINTS and DRAGONS, EDWARD SNOWDEN IN HIS OWN WORDS' OUT IN PRINT; HACKING BY RUSSIA MAY SOON BECOME OBSOLETE

HACKING BY RUSSIA MAY SOON BECOME OBSOLETE

We cannot change the character of our country or compromise the future of our people by creating a national security state which takes away the liberty and privacy we propose to advance.
— Former President Bill Clinton
NEW YORK, NY, USA, December 21, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- - 'Saints and Dragons, Edward Snowden in His Own Words' by political writer Claude Brickell is now available at Barnes and Noble worldwide from publisher BricBooks.

The books gives readers the first real look at Snowden's actions about what he actually did, why he did it and the message he is sending to the American people regarding "why privacy matters." According to Brickell, Edward Snowden speaks particularly to his own "post-terror generation" seeking to educate the public and vindicate himself.

Edward Snowden is the employee of a National Security Agency subcontractor who leaked troves of classified information to the mainstream press. The data exposed wide-scale surveillance conducted by the NSA on American citizens and others worldwide about which the subcontractor felt the public had a right to know. The book gives readers the first real sense of Snowden's motivations about what he did, why he did it and the message he is sending the American people of "why privacy matters."

In an interview regarding the purported hacking by Russia which some believe had a direct affect on the recent US election, Brickell states, "It's not that the Russians may have been behind the hacking, it's that hacking is done by every intelligence agency worldwide, including our own NSA, and that the Obama administration has failed to approach and negotiate with Russia on the broader issue. When it was evident the Chinese were rampantly hacking into US companies and stealing classified trade secrets, the US negotiated with that government and the hacking stopped or was severely curtailed."

Brickell goes on to say that, "All hacking could easily be blocked by advanced encryption." He quotes Snowden from his book, "We need a global forum and global funding committed to the development of security standards that enforce our right to privacy not through law, but through science and technology. The easiest way to ensure [that] a country's communications are secure is to secure them worldwide, and that means better standards, better crypto and better research…"

Brickell further states, "The reason you don't see the intelligence community pushing for widespread encryption is because it's their biggest fear. Encryption would severely curtail their ability to monitor our communications, not only ours but terrorist, too, and would virtually render entities like the NSA obsolete. But encryption is the future, like it or not. And the major telecommunications companies are already advancing with it despite the NSA's vehement reaction to it."

Brickell ends his book on a remark former President Bill Clinton made regarding the Snowden affair, "We cannot change the character of our country or compromise the future of our people by creating a national security state which takes away the liberty and privacy we propose to advance. Don't kill the goose that laid the golden egg."

Saints and Dragons, Edward Snowden in His Own Words is available nationwide in print, ebook and audiobook.
