Julian has significant insight into the legislative process in Maryland as he currently serves as an elected member of the Maryland State Democratic Central Committee (the governing body of the Maryland Democratic Party), is a Board Member of the Democratic Business Council of Maryland, and is Vice President of the African-American Democratic Club of Montgomery County.

Julian is also an active member of the nonprofit, entertainment, and artistic communities in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC. Julian is currently a member of the board of directors for City Gate, Inc., and has previously served on the boards of directors of The Judah Project, and the Urban Artists Coalition. Additionally, Julian has served as a past Chairman of the Entertainment and Sports Law Section of the Maryland State Bar Association. Julian is also the co-founder, Vice President and General Counsel for Mighty Mizizi Music Company an administrative music publishing entity serving the needs of independent songwriters and publishers.
