Joe & Seph's Gourmet Popcorn crowned 'Exporter of the Year' at FDF Awards
North London-based Joe & Seph's Gourmet Popcorn was named 'Exporter of the Year' at last night's prestigious Food and Drink Federation (FDF) Awards. The ceremony at London's The Brewery celebrated the leading businesses and people in the food and drink industry.
The category was sponsored by Santander and recognises those firms whose success is reaching new markets in the UK, throughout Europe and across the globe.
Joe & Seph's Gourmet Popcorn is a family business from London and launched in 2010 with the mission to create the best-tasting popcorn in the world. The business now has a range of over 40 flavours of popcorn, six caramel sauces and has won a total of 24 Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food.
The popcorn is handmade in small batches by trained pastry chefs in their London-based kitchen, using only the best natural ingredients and extra-large corn pieces. With over 2,000 stockists in the UK and exporting to over 17 countries internationally, Joe & Seph's has experienced growth averaging 224% year-on-year since inception. The company won the 'Growth Business' prize at the FDF Awards 2014.
FDF's Director General, Ian Wright, said: “Joe & Seph's Gourmet Popcorn is clearly an innovative, growing business, whose export market has increased significantly over recent years. The company demonstrates that with a great product and dynamic concept, British brands can make a real impact on the world stage. Joe & Seph's is a worthy winner of this award and I congratulate them on their success”.
Mike Davies, Head of Business Development, Santander Corporate & Commercial Banking at category sponsor Santander said: “We are delighted to sponsor the Exporter of the Year Award. Joe and Seph's Gourmet Popcorn is a great example of a UK business developing a quality product and taking that product to the world.
