Secretary Kerry met with Peruvian President Pedro Pablo Kuczynski today in New York, NY. This meeting was an opportunity to reinforce shared U.S.-Peru priorities on important regional and international issues.
The Secretary commended Peru for its leadership in support of democracy throughout the western hemisphere and particularly in Venezuela. He expressed enthusiasm for increasing regional economic integration and inclusive growth during President Obama’s upcoming participation in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Peru in November. The Secretary and President Kuczynski also discussed the need to pass the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade pact as soon as possible.
The two pledged to continue partnering to combat all forms of transnational organized crime, including illicit narcotics, illegal logging and mining, and human trafficking.
