DONG Energy officials announced the successful installation of an 8-megawatt wind turbine at the Burbo Bank Extension wind farm in Liverpool Bay, United Kingdom. Manufactured by Vestas, the turbines are the largest in the world, and it is the first time they have ever been used in an offshore wind farm. When finished, the 258-megawatt wind farm will generate enough electricity to power more than 230,000 homes in the United Kingdom.
