CAPITAL ONE RACE FOR KIDS RAISES $714,562 FOR BOYS AND GIRLS CLUBS ACROSS CANADA

Canadian Communities Support Programs for Children and Youth

TORONTO, Aug. 15, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Teams in 32 communities from coast to coast participated in the fifth annual Capital One® Race for Kids™ on May 28, June 4 and June 11 respectively, to raise $714,562 for local Boys and Girls Clubs.

From Vancouver to Cape Breton, over 550 teams of four wore quirky costumes and puzzled over mind-bending challenges as participants in Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada's annual national fundraising event. Funds raised help Boys and Girls Clubs at 625 service locations nationwide provide safe, supportive places where children and youth can discover, develop, and achieve their full potential.

"I'm very encouraged by the strong show of support for Boys and Girls Clubs," said Owen Charters, President and CEO of Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. "We are very grateful to all of the racers, volunteers, local donors, and our national sponsors—Capital One, WestJet and goeasy—for making this year's Capital One Race for Kids a rousing success."
