Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Chesapeake Celebrates 'MentorZing: Big Night Out'

This the nonprofit agency's 13th annual celebration of mentoring and its champions

BALTIMORE, MD, USA, June 9, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Chesapeake (BBBSGC) will hold MentorZing: Big Night Out, a celebration of mentoring champions, on June 9 at UMBC Columbus Center on Baltimore's Inner Harbor.

This is the nonprofit organization's 13th annual MentorZing event. Over 250 guests, including leaders of Baltimore's major corporations as well as BBBSGC volunteer mentors (Bigs) and their mentees (Littles), are expected to attend for a reception, dinner, and awards show. The event will feature live music by the Trinidad & Tobago Baltimore Steel Drum Orchestra; event and video production by VPC, Inc.; and signature artwork provided by art students of Baltimore County Public Schools.

The focus of BBBSGC's MentorZing is to spotlight mentoring and congratulate individuals and organizations making exceptional strides in the mentoring movement. This year’s BBBSGC Excellence in Mentoring Award winners are:
• Lifetime Achievement Award: Tom Hall, Music Director of the Baltimore Choral Arts Society and host of WYPR’s Maryland Morning, for his outstanding contributions to the mentoring movement, including service as a BBBSGC Board Member and a Big Brother since 1999
• Community Partner Award: Baltimore City Community College Refugee Youth Project, for their exceptional service of over 50 volunteers and more than 70 refugee and asylum youth, and for their accomplishments in helping to make Baltimore a more welcoming city
• Match of the Year Award: Big Sister Kela Belfield and Little Sister Nariaha Davis• Raymond M. Cain Memorial Scholarship Award: Jeremiah Lee-Moore
• Jim Piper Corporate Partner Award: M&T Bank
