Kickboxing Great Peter Cunningham inducted into Martial Arts History Museum Hall of Fame

(NewMediaWire) - June 01, 2016 - Burbank, CA - Kickboxing great, Peter “Sugarfoot” Cunningham was honored and inducted into the Martial Arts History Museum's Hall of Fame this month at the Museum in Burbank, CA.

Cunningham is considered by many as one of the greatest full contact karate fighters of all time. An eight-time, undefeated World Champion Kickboxer, he has been referred to as the arts' greatest martial arts technician.

Holding titles as the World Karate Association Lightweight Champion, Karate International Council of Kickboxing Super Lightweight Champion, International Muay Thai Federation Junior Welter Weight Champion, the WMAC World Junior Welterweight Champion and the International Sport Karate Association Light Featherweight Champion, he has graced the covers a numerous magazines.

Paul Maslak, former head of the Star Rating System, notes that Peter is “probably the greatest technician in the history of kickboxing.”

Peter Cunningham has an undefeated record in 51 fights, which is amazing. He is the one responsible for carrying the torch of kickboxing from the 1980s to the 1990s. He kept the art alive which is today now called MMA,” notes museum president Michael Matsuda.

The event was honored as “Peter Cunningham Day,” which also served as his formal induction into the Museum's Hall of Fame. The only official Hall recognized by the Museum. “Being part of such a prestigious club as the Hall of Fame is a huge accomplishment. Although there are many halls out there, this is the only one that recognizes historical achievements in the arts. Peter changed history,” notes Matsuda.
