MSG Networks Announces 2016 New York Liberty Telecast Schedule
Schedule Tips Off Saturday, May 14 at 9:30 p.m. on MSG
NEW YORK, May 13, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MSG Networks (NYSE:MSGN) and the Women's National Basketball Association New York Liberty have unveiled the official telecast schedule for the 2016 season. MSG Networks will televise 32 of the WNBA team’s 34 regular season games.
The first MSG Networks’ Liberty telecast will be the season opener on Saturday, May 14 when the Liberty travel to Washington to take on the Mystics. Liberty games televised on MSG Networks will also be live streamed on MSG GO, MSG Networks’ live streaming and video on demand platform for smartphones, tablets and computers. MSG GO enables fans, whether at home or on-the-go, to watch all of MSG Networks’ live Liberty game telecasts. MSG GO is available to subscribers of participating television providers (currently Optimum and Xfinity TV) who receive MSG Networks as part of their pay television subscription.
MSG Networks’ Liberty broadcast team will feature veteran play-by-play announcer Mike Crispino along with analysts Rosalyn Gold-Onwude, who returns for her fifth season and Julianne Viani.
The Liberty tips off its historic 20th WNBA season looking to build off of last year’s success, which saw New York set a franchise record for victories and post the best record in the WNBA (23-11) for the first time. Leading the way is four-time All-Star and 2015 First Team All-WNBA selection Tina Charles, set to begin a third season with her hometown Liberty. Charles, who in April was one of 12 players named to the 2016 U.S. Olympic Women’s Basketball Team, averaged 17.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game last season. The Liberty also welcomes back an impressive young core of players, including a pair of 2015 WNBA All-Rookie selections in Kiah Stokes and Brittany Boyd, in addition to the recently acquired Amanda Zahui B. who was the second-overall pick in the 2015 draft. New York also acquired a pair of former All-Stars in guard Shoni Schimmel, through a trade with Atlanta, and guard Shavonte Zellous, a key free agent signing.
The 2015 WNBA Coach of the Year Bill Laimbeer returns for his fourth season on the sidelines, along with an impressive staff that includes Associate Head Coach Katie Smith, Assistant Coach Herb Williams, and Director of Player Development Teresa Weatherspoon.
Below is the regular season television schedule for the New York Liberty on MSG Networks. 32 of the 34 games will air on MSG Networks, and the additional two games will air nationally on ESPN2.
