- This recognition is testament to Benz's ability to drive strategy and execution for a leading Bay Area independent wealth management company since joining B|O|S in 2001.
- Benz actively supports a wide range of local institutions, nonprofit groups and causes, and champions improving quality of life in the region.
B|O|S, a leading Bay Area independent wealth management firm, today announced that Carol Benz, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Principal at the firm, has been recognized by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the Most Influential Women in Bay Area Business for 2016. Every year, the list honors 150 stand-out female leaders in business, government and nonprofits in the Bay Area.
"As an exceptional leader and community supporter, Carol is highly deserving of being named one of the most influential women in the Bay Area," said Kevin Dorwin, Managing Principal at B|O|S. "We're proud that she has been recognized for her contributions to the economic wealth and growth of the Bay Area. Carol's leadership of the B|O|S team has played a foundational role helping to make San Francisco the registered investment advisor (RIA) capitol of the country."
"I'm humbled to be honored among extraordinary, influential female leaders," stated Carol Benz. "I credit this achievement largely to B|O|S's dedicated support of foundations, nonprofit organizations, local events and philanthropic goals, as well as serving the personal finance needs of the Bay Area's entrepreneurs, law firm partners and multi-generational families -- all integral parts of our community's economic engine."
A resident of San Francisco, Benz joined the firm in 2001 and serves as Managing Principal with Kevin Dorwin. Benz also serves as the firm's Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for firm management, including finance and reporting, portfolio operations, human resources, compliance, technology, and strategic planning.
Prior to joining the firm, Benz worked for 10 years for Barclays Global Investors, currently known as Blackrock, where she managed account operations, domestic operations, international operations, and the data services group, and for three years with Ernst & Young as a Supervising Senior where she worked with insurance, technology, and manufacturing clients.
Benz is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive status) in the state of California. She is currently Vice Chair of the Stanford Alumni Association Board of Directors and holds positions as a member of the Stanford Cap & Gown Alumnae Board, a Director of the San Francisco Opera Guild, a committee member of the C.A. Buck Educational Foundation, and a sustaining member of the Junior League of San Francisco. Previously, Benz served as a member of the Schwab Advisor Services Advisory Board, president and treasurer of the San Francisco Ballet's ENCORE!, as treasurer of the San Francisco Opera Guild, as a member of the board of the Merola Opera Program, and as Dinner Chair of the San Francisco Ballet's 2010 opening night gala.
