Zenbev Reduces Sleeplessness Study Shows
/EINPresswire.com/ -- TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - April 28, 2016) - A newly released academic paper shows that Zenbev Drink Mix, a natural sleep aid, significantly reduces time awake in the night due to insomnia (http://www.zenbev.com/en-CA).
The paper, entitled "Systematic Review of Dietary Interventions Targeting Sleep Behavior," was published April 21 in the peer-reviewed 'Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine' in the United States. The paper reviewed 21 studies that analyzed the effectiveness of modifying nutritional intake as a treatment for improving sleep. The authors of the study are Adam Paul Knowlden, MBA, PhD, The University of Alabama, Department of Health Science (Tuscaloosa, AL); Christine Hackman, PhD, California Polytechnic State University, Kinesiology Department (San Luis Obispo, CA); and Manoj Sharma, MBBS, PhD, Jackson State University, School of Public Health (Jackson, MS).
"Zenbev was reviewed within this published paper and stands out because it used a randomized control trial (RCT) that adhered to rigorous research methods and showed a 39% reduction in time awake in the middle of the night," said inventor and owner Dr. Craig Hudson, a psychiatrist and research scientist who specializes in sleep disorders.
"The notion that diet may help one sleep is not new but an important field of study," Dr. Hudson added. "This recent research review demonstrates there is evidence that changes to diet holds the promise of a simple and effective way to improve sleep."
Zenbev Drink Mix is an organic, all natural, sleep aid made from pumpkin seeds. The pumpkin seeds are cold pressed to remove the oil and blended in a powder formulation that promotes sleep naturally. Dr. Hudson determined that tryptophan found in the pumpkin seeds could be extracted to create a powder which, when mixed with warm milk or water, induces sleepiness.
Tryptophan, an essential amino acid our bodies only get from food sources, is light sensitive and metabolizes differently in light vs. dark conditions. When taken during the day, Zenbev's tryptophan becomes serotonin, which regulates mood, emotion, and appetite, and is well known to alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression. When taken at night, the tryptophan turns into serotonin, which then metabolizes into melatonin, a hormone that activates the brain's sleep mechanisms. (See http://www.zenbev.com/en-CA/about#science for more details about the science behind Zenbev.)
Zenbev's ingredients include pumpkinseed flour (organic certified), dextrose, rice starch and guar gum.
The powder is sold at natural health stores in Canada, the United States, and throughout Europe. It can also be ordered online and shipped.
"We are excited that this study supports what we've known about Zenbev helping people deal with sleep issues," said Dr. Hudson.
According to Dr. Hudson, difficulty sleeping is a significant health issue that affects millions of people.
"There are a number of methods that can be combined to help people sleep better, including breathing techniques and visualization, however, this study supports the idea that ingesting certain foods can also be a significant aid," he said.
