Edmilson Serves as the New Global Ambassador for the FCBEscola Soccer Schools, Which Teaches Barca Values and Training Methodology to Youth Teams U6 to U14

/EINPresswire.com/ -- MIAMI, FL and BARCELONA, SPAIN -- (Marketwired) -- 04/14/16 -- Former FC Barcelona player and World Cup champion Jose Edmilson is expected to participate in the first ever FCBEscola Florida Invitational Tournament, announced organizers of the FCBEscola Florida, the first and only official soccer academy of FC Barcelona in the U.S. FCBEscola Florida employs the same methodology used by Barça youth teams in its yearly program designed for kids U6 to U14. This program is directed and supervised by a Technical Director from the FCBEscola in Barcelona who resides permanently in South Florida.

Edmilson will be in South Florida to participate in the 1st ever FCBEscola Florida Invitational Tournament, which will take place on Saturday, April 16 and Sunday, April 17. FCBEscola players in U8, U10, U12 and U14 will participate in this tournament with teams from around the state at Central Broward Regional Park and Stadium located at 3700 NW 11 Place in Lauderhill, Florida.

In February, Edmilson signed on as the global ambassador for the FCBEscola soccer schools to act in the name of FC Barcelona at official events. His role includes visiting the different schools and participating in training sessions along with the pupils and coaches. In his time as a FC Barcelona player (2004-2008), Jose Edmilson won the Champions League, two Ligas and two Spanish Super Cups. He was part of the Brazil national team which won the 2012 World Cup.

Now entering the third season, FCBEscola Florida launched in the U.S. in August 2014 and currently has more than 250 players in its competitive and recreational programs modeled after FC Barcelona' philosophy and methodology, thus teaching Barça values and way of play in its youth program at Central Broward Regional Park and Stadium.

Aside from the invitational tournament, key highlights of the 2016 season include:

• FCBEscola Tryouts on April 30: Aspiring soccer players ages 5 to 13 years old are encouraged to try out for a spot on the various teams.
• Community Soccer Clinic on May 7: FCBEscola Florida staff will lead the community focused event for children of all ages. The event is open to the community and free on a first come, first serve basis.
• 4th Annual FCBEscola Tournament and Festival on May 14: The culminating activity before the new season officially begins.
