Win the Ultimate Outdoor Field Trip: Explore the World of Wetlands, Waterfowl and Conservation With Ducks Unlimited Canada

/EINPresswire.com/ -- OAK HAMMOCK MARSH, MANITOBA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/17/16 -- Who says field trips are just for kids? Learning is for everyone, and so is getting outside to experience the wonders of the wild firsthand. So ditch your desk, grab your rubber boots and prepare to dive into amazing marshland alongside some of the country's top biologists. You could be the lucky person who wins the ultimate outdoor field trip to Ducks University.

"This spring, Ducks Unlimited Canada is inviting one budding conservationist to earn an honorary degree in Duckology," says David Howerter, DUC's director of conservation science. "It's a chance for them to experience wetland conservation in an environment that brings together DUC staff, volunteers and supporters from across the country. It's one heck of a good time in the great outdoors."

Ducks University will be held in Saskatoon, Sask. from May 20-22, 2016. It will take you knee-deep into wetlands, get you up close with wildlife, and take you behind the scenes to understand the science that makes conservation possible. The contest is one of the ways Ducks Unlimited Canada is inviting Canadians to take part in the Rescue Our Wetlands campaign - the largest conservation campaign in North America's history.

The process is simple: Tell us, in your own creative and personal way, why Canada needs to do more to Rescue Our Wetlands and share it on Facebook at Ducks Unlimited Canada and Twitter at @ducanada. Go online, check out the video from a past Ducks University event and follow the steps to enter.

In the meantime, here are some facts about wetlands to help get you started. Wetlands are some of the most important ecosystems on the planet. These natural areas:

--  clean our water;
--  provide critical habitat for wildlife;
--  mitigate climate change;
-- provide flood and drought protection for our communities; and
-- are perfect natural spaces for recreation and learning opportunities.

The contest is open until March 31, 2016. Get your entries in today and prepare to pack your bag for the ultimate outdoor field trip at Ducks University.

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is the leader in wetland conservation. A registered charity, DUC partners with government, industry, non-profit organizations and landowners to conserve wetlands that are critical to waterfowl, wildlife and the environment.
