/EINPresswire.com/ -- PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - February 29, 2016) - Kirsten Haglund, Miss America 2008, national eating disorders awareness advocate, and community relations specialist for Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center, is a guest speaker at the upcoming Phoenix NEDA Walk, Sunday, March 6, at the Phoenix Zoo.

Haglund will speak on the topic of "Finally Free: Compassion, Community and Courage in the Fight Against Eating Disorders." During her talk, she will also share her story of recovery from an eating disorder.

"Eating Disorders affect 30 million men and women in this country, and those individuals should not be living in the shadows," said Haglund. "At this walk, we come together to show we are not alone, to celebrate life, and applaud the many who with courage, choose recovery and find life-long freedom from these issues."
