Halifax Restorative Justice advocate wins National Award

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is pleased to announce that the 2015 National Ron Wiebe Restorative Justice Award was presented to Jennifer Llewellyn at a ceremony held on November 16th in Quebec city, Quebec, as part of the 2015 National Restorative Justice Symposium.

Jennifer Llewellyn is the Viscount Bennett Professor of Law at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She has consistently demonstrated a deep commitment to the values of restorative justice through both her academic work and personal life.

Jennifer's teaching and research is focused in the areas of restorative justice, truth commissions, international and domestic human rights law, and Canadian constitutional law. She has authored multiple publications on the theory and practice of a restorative approach for local, national and international audiences. Jennifer has also spent the last six years working closely with Nova Scotia's nine school boards to support the adoption of a restorative approach in schools.

Jennifer is collaborative, visionary, full of energy, and has demonstrated again and again her commitment to seeking a justice that heals and restores. Her dedication to restorative justice work has had an impact on the lives of many.
