Lebanon Dentist Hires Talented Dental Assistant

LEBANON, TN--(Marketwired - November 12, 2015) - Dr. Russell Kirk, a leading provider in dental implants, has hired a new dental assistant at his growing Lebanon dental practice.

/EINPresswire.com/ -- Kelsey Lackey graduated from Remington College as a Registered Dental Assistant and completed summer post-graduate training at Dr. Kirk's dental office, Tennessee Implant & Oral Surgery. She was hired as a full-time employee in September.

Lackey is trained as a dental assistant and sterilization technician and helps Dr. Kirk on various surgical procedures, including placing dental implants and removing wisdom teeth.

"She is familiar with the processes and procedures of our office, and this has helped tremendously during the training period," Dr. Kirk said. "Kelsey has a friendly and outgoing personality, and is able to make a patient feel comfortable immediately. She loves what she is doing, and her passion shows in her care for the patients."

Dr. Kirk said having an additional surgical assistant overseeing equipment cleanings and preparation allows him and the clinical staff to focus solely on the patients' needs. Lackey also helps to maintain patient records and works with patients to establish best oral health practices.

"Having Kelsey around has been a huge asset to the practice," said Kristin, Dr. Kirk's lead surgical assistant. "She is a great help during surgeries, and her ability to step in and do patient consults so quickly has been a tremendous advantage."

Dr. Kirk's practice, Tennessee Implant & Oral Surgery, offers wisdom tooth removal, dental implants, bone grafts, soft-tissue grafts, biopsies, IV sedation and general anesthesia. The practice specializes in dental implants, including immediate-load implants like All-on-Four dental implants. Dr. Kirk and his staff work in a 2,800-square-foot facility located on the University Medical Center campus. The state-of-the-art office includes an iTero digital scanner and cone beam CT scanner, both used for the placement of dental implants.

Dr. Kirk is a Union City, Tenn., native who graduated from Obion County Central High School in 1985. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee-Martin in 1990 before graduating with honors from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 1994.

Dr. Kirk received the Navy's Health Professions Scholarship, which awards tuition in exchange for active duty service. He completed his General Practice Residency from the Navy in 1995 and then became the department head for Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Four Zero. He completed deployments to Guam, Bosnia and Spain, and fulfilled his active duty obligation in 1997. In 1998, Dr. Kirk earned his Fellowship in Anesthesia and Critical Care Medicine from The Johns Hopkins Hospital. He later received his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2002 from the University of Tennessee Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

Dr. Kirk continues to serve in the U.S. Navy Reserve, and in June 2013, he was promoted to the rank of Captain.

Dr. Kirk closed his private practice in 2005 after being called to active duty, during which he served at the United States Military Hospital in Kuwait as the staff oral and maxillofacial surgeon. He re-opened his Lebanon, Tenn., office in 2006 and opened a second location in Mount Juliet, Tenn., the following year.

He is a member of the Tennessee Dental Association, American Dental Association, Nashville Dental Society, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Tennessee Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He also is a Diplomate of American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and the Senior Dental Executive for Expeditionary Medical Facility Great Lakes One.

Dr. Kirk has received three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals and was recently awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He was voted Best Nashville Dentist in 2013 and 2014.
