Home & Hospitality Smart Lock Takes Home September Z-Wave Labs Competition
With an Innovative Two-Way Connected Entry Patio Door Lock, Start-Up Padio Systems Is Named the Fourth Winner of the Z-Wave Alliance IoT Competition
/EINPresswire.com/ -- FREMONT, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/28/15 -- The Z-Wave Alliance, an open consortium of leading global companies deploying Z-Wave, is announcing the September winner of its IoT developer competition. Vancouver based smart patio door lock startup Padio Systems Inc. is the next winner of the yearlong Z-Wave Labs program and will receive Z-Wave Alliance membership and access to the new Z-Wave IoT ready 500 series development kits.
A new company close to product launch, Padio Systems, Inc. provides security and two-way convenience with its tamper-resistant sliding patio door lock. The Padiolok Latch is stronger and more secure than traditional latches, and offers two-way keyless entry with its accompanying keypad that allows users control of the lock via keypad and access code. These features, along with the ability of the lock to retrofit to almost all existing or new aluminum or vinyl sliding doors, make it an ideal addition to sliding patio doors at both hotels and homes.
"Security and convenience are both important features, and it is exciting to see a new take on the traditional smart lock and build a solution specific to existing sliding doors," said Mitchell Klein, Executive Director of the Z-Wave Alliance. "The goal of Z-Wave Labs is to find innovative solutions in the connected world and Padio Systems has great potential to broaden Z-Wave's reach in the home and hospitality."
With the addition of Z-Wave technology to its product roadmap, Padio Systems notes the importance of interoperable standards when introducing new smart technology to residential and commercial markets. With Z-Wave, the Padiolok will allow home residents or hotel management to control the entry latch remotely and set passcodes for visitors and guests.
"Adding a Z-Wave option to our product was an easy choice given its features and diverse ecosystem of products to work with," said Bruce White, CEO of Padio Systems, Inc. "Z-Wave will allow our customers to monitor and control the Padiolok themselves, either at home or remotely, and enable hotels to provide their guests with better services."
Started last spring, Z-Wave Labs is a global competition that launched and is designed to encourage IoT innovation on the Z-Wave platform.
