Young Artist Award winner Alexander Davis guest stars as Brownie and Checkers in the third season of the PBS series "Super Why!"
LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, August 10, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Audiences across continents can catch child actor Alexander Davis guest starring on the third season of the hit PBS kids series "Super Why!," which will begin airing on August 17.Geared towards preschoolers, "Super Why!" follows four fairytale friends from Storybook Village as they embark on exciting adventures while teaching audiences valuable reading skills.
In the forthcoming season Davis plays the starring role of Checkers in the episode "The Unhappy Puppy," as well as Brownie in the episode "Super Puppy Saves the Day."
"I love being able to become another character," admits Alexander Davis. "I act all the time, even when I’m not being paid to act."
Over the last three years Davis's career as an actor on both the stage and screen has flourished at record speeds. Earlier this year he was honored with the prestigious Young Artist Award for Best Performance in Live Theater for his leading role as Randy Parker in the hit production of "A Christmas Story."
Beyond being a natural talent and exceedingly adorable, Davis's dedication to his work is impeccable. Fully immersing himself in the iconic character, Randy, for the 48-show run of "A Christmas Story," he continually wowed audiences with his performances night after night at the Neptune Theatre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
"A Christmas Story" assistant director Laura Caswell says, "Alexander is a performer whose gifts are extraordinary and unique. He is energetic, driven, creative, and the audience loves him. We were lucky to have found this special young actor in what could have been a very hard role to cast."
In 2014 Alexander Davis was nominated for another Young Artist Award for his performance in the film "Senior Drivers" directed by Gary W. Hayes. The film follows Fred and Esther as their relaxing morning turns chaotic after they realize that they've forgotten to pick up their grandson Alex, played by Davis, from school.
"Senior Drivers" screened as the opening film for four showings at the Orangeville Galaxy Cinema as part of the Toronto International Film Festival's film circuit ‘Monday Night at the Movies.’ The film also opened for the Oscar winning documentary "20 Feet From Stardom," in addition to being an Official Selection at the Knoxville Film Festival.
Davis, who has proven his diversity in an impressive repertoire of high-profile productions over the years, has become a go to talent for a wide range of roles.
His work has caught the attention of some of the industry's leading figures across continents, including two-time Emmy nominee Irene Dreayer, the executive producer of such hit television programs as "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody," "Sister, Sister" and "The Suite Life on Deck."
"I have made a career of discovering young talent and building TV shows around them… I have launched the career of many well-known talents... Miley Cyrus, Zack Efron, Tia and Tamera Mowry, Dylan and Cole Sprouse...," says Dreayer. "Over the last few months, I have been working with Alexander Davis, a young talent who resides in the Toronto area. I think he is a big star... He is very special and tremendously talented! Alexander Davis is a cross between Haley Joel Osment and Macaulay Culkin."
Davis has clearly found his true calling—to put it simply, he was born to perform. He recently played the starring role in Egan Davidson's film "The Closet," which is currently in post-production.
"I played the only person in the whole film. This was challenging because I had to imagine everything in my head. Being a creative kid helped a lot. I also played my own twin, which was fun, but I had to be exact with where I stood to make sure the shot worked with both of us in the scene. They edited it or layered the scene to make it look like there were two of me," recalls Davis about working on "The Closet."
Some of his other films to date include the horror films "Niko" and "Neighbours," the drama films "Volition" and "A Long Way from Home," as well as "In Lieu of Flowers," "The Boogeyman," "Serenity," "We Were Lions" and others.
At just 8-years-old Alexander Davis has already made astonishing strides in the entertainment industry internationally, and as he continues to book starring role after starring role, it is clear that this young actor will remain an audience favorite for years to come.
Make sure to look out for him in the third season of "Super Why!" coming to a screen near you at the end of the month!
