A prominent law firm in Chicago has established a scholarship for accident survivors enrolling in college or law school.

CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, June 18, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Briskman Briskman & Greenberg created the scholarship to help students in college or law school who are overcoming injuries suffered as the result of a car accident, medical error or other incident caused by someone else's carelessness.

“In our field of law, we get to know families who have had their lives turned upside down by serious injuries, and we know how hard it can be for people to get back on track,” said Robert Briskman, an attorney with the firm.

“As a family-owned and family-oriented law firm, we are all touched on a personal level when we see families struggling to overcome the obstacles created by these serious injuries,” said Briskman. “We are especially moved to see young people working hard to overcome such setbacks, and we wanted to give something back.”

The scholarship will be offered annually to a student who has overcome serious injuries caused by another's negligence, and is entering or enrolled in an accredited college or law school. To apply for the scholarship, the student will submit a brief personal statement, not to exceed 500 words, describing the incident, how it affected the applicant's life and how they overcame their injuries. The scholarship will be awarded based on the strength of the personal statement. The scholarship award amount is $1,000 and the deadline is August 31, 2015.

“A young person just starting out in adult life and pursuing higher education deserves every advantage, especially when they have already had to overcome a serious injury,” said Briskman. “We want to help young people build a bright future.”
