Municipal Organizations Sign PPAs for 65MW of Kansas Wind Energy
May 2015 - Marshall Wind Energy has finalized three separate, long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) totaling 65 MW with municipal organizations in Missouri and Kansas. The organizations include Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission (MJMEUC) in Columbia, Missouri, Kansas Power Pool (KPP) in Wichita, Kansas and the Department of Power and Light (IPL) in City of Independence, Missouri. MJMEUC, KPP and IPL have each signed up to receive output from the 72 MW Marshall Wind Farm in Marshall County, Kansas. With these PPAs, nearly 20 percent of KPP's load is expected to come from renewable energy while City of Independence's renewable electric supply will increase from 5 percent to over 13 percent. By the end of 2016, MJMEUC is anticipated to have as much as 77 MW of renewable energy, which is equivalent to about 14% of its 2014 summer peak.
