Wind Energy to Power Linde's Oregon Air Separation Unit
April 2015 - Linde North America, a global industrial gases and engineering company has signed a contract with Portland General Electric (PGE) to supply wind-generated electricity for a significant portion of its electric consumption to its Hillsboro, Oregon, air separation unit (ASU).The purchase is expected to allow the plant to reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by more than 7,000 tons per year. The ASU makes ultra-high purity nitrogen and oxygen for semiconductor manufacturers in the Pacific Northwest. Linde's wind energy purchase agreement with PGE was made under a special state program approved by Oregon's Department of Energy.
