FDF is delighted that a consortium led by the National Centre of Excellence for Food Engineering (NCEFE) and including our members have been successful in winning funding bids to the value of £600k from Innovate UK's 'Improving Supply Chains Efficiency' competition, providing engineering related innovation solutions.

Collaborative research and development (R&D) encourages businesses and researchers to work together on innovative projects in strategically important areas of science, engineering and technology - from which successful new products, processes and services can emerge, contributing to business and economic growth.  Innovate UK co-fund projects involving partnerships between businesses and between business and academia, meaning collaborative R&D reduces financial and technical risk and encourages knowledge exchange, supply chain development and parallel working on complex challenges.

Bids to the value of c£600k have been successful, which comes to £2.25m total project value to the NCEFE. This is a significant achievement and marks a major milestone in NCEFE's development, which aims to deliver world-leading engineering facilities to help improve productivity and competitiveness of the UK's largest manufacturing sector.
