Statement from Secretary Burwell on the introduction of Bipartisan Trade Promotion Authority
“Today’s introduction of bipartisan trade promotion authority is key to ensuring that American values and priorities are reflected in global trade. I’m particularly pleased that the bill includes specific Congressional guidance for public health priorities, including striking a balance between promoting innovation and ensuring access to medicines around the globe. This bipartisan bill also includes important measures directing the administration to further strengthen food safety regulations through the improvement of our trading partners’ processes. I encourage Congress to continue working in a bipartisan manner to move this important bill forward.”
