Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor: Secretary Kerry to Release Annual Human Rights Reports

Secretary of State John Kerry will present the 2014 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, which covers the status of human rights concerns and is commonly known as the “Human Rights Report,” at 1 p.m. on April 20, 2015, in the U.S. Department of State Press Briefing Room.

Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor, Tom Malinowski, will deliver additional remarks and take follow-up questions. The remarks will be open to the press.

Journalists attending the news conference should be seated in the Briefing Room no later than 12:30 p.m. It is accessible from the Department’s 23rd Street Entrance.

Media representatives must present one of the following: (1) A U.S. Government-issued identification card (Department of State, White House, Congress, Department of Defense, or Foreign Press Center); (2) a media-issued photo identification card; or (3) a letter from their employer on letterhead verifying their employment as a journalist, accompanied by a government-issued photo identification card (driver's license, passport).

Instructions for embargoed access of the reports will be available - to media members only - at 11 a.m. on April 20, 2015, in the State Department’s Press Office (Room 2109). The entire report is EMBARGOED until the end of the press briefing, approximately 1:45 p.m. After the briefing, the reports will be available to the public on HumanRights.gov and on State.gov.
