MONTREAL, CANADA, December 18, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- This time of year can be tough on all families. With approximately one-in-ten Montreal families relying on social assistance to make ends meet, for many Montrealers the needs for basic necessities such as warm clothing go unanswered.

As the spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Tikvah Ahavat Shalom Nusach Hoari located in Dollard des Ormeaux, Rabbi Mark Fishman is always looking for ways in which he and his congregation can make a positive impact for all those in need across the greater Montreal community,

This year, under the supervision of Rabbi Fishman the congregation launched Beth Tikvah Holiday Mission, with a goal to donate new clothes to charitable organizations. As a result, over $100,000 worth of new clothing has been donated to the following local charities - Mada Community Center, Sun Youth, The Old Brewery Mission.

Each one of these worthwhile charities will receive between 3-5 pallets of new t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, pants, etc. thus brightening up the holiday season for many Montrealers.

"There is no question that a greater number of families in Montreal are facing economic hardships. The ups and downs of the economy continue to take a heavy toll on families,” explained Rabbi Mark Fishman. “The Beth Tikvah Holiday Mission is all about community, sharing and helping those in need which is a great testament to the human spirit."
