The Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam (TGTE) has proposed the formation of a World Tamil Congress which will include Tamils and Tamil leaders from around the world.
TGTE leader and former LTTE peace negotiator V. Rudrakumaran had made the proposal in New York when the TGTE convened its self-proclaimed parliament over the weekend.
The TGTE parliament began sitting on Friday and concludes today and included video live links with delegations in Malaysia and Tamil Nadu.
Rudrakumaran had told the session that the TGTE will look to achieve its goals through democratic means and having a World Tamil Congress will help supplement those attempts.
He said a World Tamil Congress will ensure Tamils around the world are united and that their voice is heard by the international community.
With regards to the Presidential elections, Rudrakumaran did not express support for any candidate and did not have hope in either of them addressing the Tamil issue. (Colombo Gazette)
