Mobile apps enhance American Heart Association Scientific Sessions meeting experience
(NewMediaWire) - November 13, 2014 - DALLAS - Navigating the big experience of one of the world’s largest cardiovascular research meetings just got easier thanks to big technology in the form of a couple of free mobile apps.
The official Mobile Event App of The American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions 2014, will help the more than 17,000 attendees connect with each other and the thousands of presentations that will be offered at the meeting at McCormick Place in Chicago, Nov. 16-19. Features include:
- Instant access to educational sessions, faculty, abstracts, event information, hotels, schedule planning and maps.
- Interactive map navigation of the meeting while onsite.
- Information on the 2014 Science and Technology Hall exhibitors.
- Professional networking opportunities to connect with colleagues and industry professionals.
- Audio live streaming from the educational sessions.
- Easy access to upload photos of Sessions experiences to various social networks.
As a further enhancement of the mobile meeting experience, a new iPad app being piloted in some of the sessions this year is Conference Notes. Using this app, conference attendees can:
- Follow slides and make notes in real time on an iPad
- Bookmark important slides to revisit later
- Easily access the notes and presentations, during and after the conference.
“Scientific Sessions is focused on delivering the best, newest science and taking on the most compelling issues facing cardiovascular scientists and clinicians today,” said Bob Harrington, M.D., AHA Council on Scientific Sessions Programming Chair and Professor of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, Calif. “These easily accessible mobile apps offer an additional way we’ll make the experience more productive for attendees, and provide a more dynamic learning experience.”
AstraZeneca developed Conference Notes in collaboration with the American Heart Association, and first piloted it at the association’s Basic Cardiovascular Sciences (BCVS) meeting in Las Vegas in July. During Scientific Sessions, the app will be operational in the plenary presentations, Special Sessions rooms, the Global Congress and the Cardiovascular Nursing Symposium.
“As one of the world’s leading biopharmaceutical companies, AstraZeneca understands that our responsibility to healthcare professionals extends well beyond the development of innovative medicines used by millions of patients worldwide,” said John McCarthy, vice president of global commercial excellence for AstraZeneca. “Conference Notes underscores our commitment to providing tools and resources that can assist practitioners and other industry stakeholders as they strive to stay apprised of the latest information in medical science.”
The AHA Mobile Event app and Conference Notes app are available now in the App Store. The Mobile Event app is also available on Google Play for androids.
The AHA also plans to use the apps at its International Stroke Conference in February 2015.
