2AR, Motorcycles and Photography for the Children
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH, UNITED STATES, November 5, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Mirko Nagler and Claudia Nagler are 2AR, which stands for 2 Auf Reisen or 2 people on one journey. They are making a two-year motorcycle tour of the Americas to raise consciousness about the plight of impoverished children in Central and South America. Along the way, they stop and take pictures – for free. They do accept donations, one hundred percent of which go to EBM (European Baptist Missions) International. Funds raised during their expedition are targeted toward helping children in Latin American countries by contributing to food programs, childcare, preschools and more.
To begin their grand adventure, Mirko and Claudia sold everything except for the things they could pack onto two motorcycles – and part of that space is consumed by Mirko’s mobile photography studio. The motorcycles for the trip are provided by Suzuki, and they were outfitted for the trip by Touratech.

The reasons they have made this huge commitment are varied. Claudia explains that she was raised with three foster brothers, and that she is a social worker and child advocate. But her life still felt empty, in spite of the socially significant work she was doing. Mirko adds that they were seeking – and to them seeking meant being on the move. But they wanted their trip to be something more than just a personal journey, so they decided to add helping out with projects along the way. In addition to taking collections at the various photo shoots, Mirko and Claudia plan to give hands on assistance where ever they can during their journey.
The journey began with a journey from Europe to New York, across the Northern United States, then down the southern coast into Mexico. But like many journeys, 2AR hit a snag when they learned how much it was going to cost to ferry their two bikes from Panama to Columbia. Mirko and Claudia have project commitments in South America, but as they put it, the ferry fee shortened up the number of days they can travel “a lot.” So they developed an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign.
Contributions to 2AR can be made through Indiegogo. The amount needed for transportation is $4,000, but Mirko and Claudia hope to raise an added $4,000 to send to EBM to be used for projects. If they cannot raise the full $8,000, they will split the funds raised and take any shortage out of personal funds. Of course, contributing to a project like this creates that good feeling that goes with helping others, but Mirko and Claudia do have some more tangible rewards for donors. These include the usual “thank yous” and your name on their website, but the real prizes are the calendar and photo book made up of pictures taken along the way. The real prize is a canvas mounted 2AR image of your choice.
For those of us who cannot get away, or who have no real desire to take to the open road, these pictures are the next best thing to being there. Mirko comments that he loves taking photographs and that each picture of a face tells a story. He also says that the open road is freedom, and being on a motorcycle is a feeling like that of a happy puppy dog with its head hanging out an open car window. He and Claudia are traveling through many different areas, with incredible landscape views. Follow their journey by reading their blog or viewing videos they post on YouTube as they travel.
There are many ways to support Mirko and Claudia on their journey, and to help out Latin American children who are assisted by EBM. You can contribute monetarily, but you can also “Like” their Facebook page or tweet about the project on Twitter. Share the blogs, videos and Indigogo website with friends and family. After all, the more people who know about this amazing journey, the greater the likelihood that 2AR will raise sufficient funds to make the full two-year journey, as well as support the many children and worth-while projects along their route. Make your comfortable chair and your computer a vehicle through which you can share 2AR, a journey of wonder for the traveling team and for all the people they meet along the way.
