Acer to Move to 100% Renewable Energy For Its U.S Operations
October 2014 - Acer announced an initiative to purchase renewable power equivalent to 100 percent of its carbon emissions at all US-based facilities. The purchase of more than 27 million kWh of green power in the form of renewable energy certificates (RECs) will reduce emissions from its US facilities until the end of 2015. The RECs purchased by Acer are sourced from a mix of different renewable energy types including wind power and biomass and are certified by Green-e Energy, a national certification program for renewable energy. Acer has established a global emissions reduction target of 30 percent by 2015 and 60 percent by 2020.
