ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, October 16, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar Airways, Dubai Airports, Bahrain Civil Aviation Authority, ICAO, the Federal Aviation Authority and more will gather at the Air Traffic Management Summit, to be held in Abu Dhabi from 17-18 November 2014 to learn about region’s latest technologies available to optimise airspace, manage air traffic flow more effectively, increase interoperability between stakeholders by adopting collaborative decision making and increasing the capacity of airports by the adoption of dual landing procedures.

“Optimising airspace is a priority for the region’s aviation stakeholders that we’ve been in discussion with while producing this event. Airports, airlines and ANSPs all understand that congested airspace is a hindrance to profitability and as such it is an area of immediate focus.” Mohaned El-Mahgoub, Project Director, IQPC Middle East.

The summit will be followed by a specialised 2-day certified workshop focusing on next generation air traffic management systems. The workshop will detail advanced communication navigation and surveillance systems that will allow airplanes to fly closer together in a safer manner. The session will also delve into the new trajectory-based navigation systems that will become the norm in air navigation due to the increased predictability of flight scheduling through the optimisation of flight routes, which will lead to minimised carbon dioxide emissions and reduce costly fuel burn. The workshop is being run by Assistant Professor Dr. Sergio Ruiz and will be fully certified by the University of Barcelona. The course is a must-attend for those who want to understand the technologies that will be mandatory for compliance with ICAO’s Block 1 upgrade and should be attended by ATM professionals from civil aviation authorities, ANSPs, airports, ministries of transport and airlines.
