INDONESIA : SGS to inspect and test imports of alloy steel products
Indonesia implements a new testing program to protect the local steel industry from misdeclared imports.
JAKARTA, JAVA, INDONESIA, August 23, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- INDONESIA: SGS has been appointed to verify and test alloy steel products imported into Indonesia. The object of the program is to prevent non-alloy steel products being declared as alloy steel. Non-alloy steel products are subject to a higher rate of Customs duty, anti-dumping duties and also the application of Indonesian National Standards unlike alloy steel. It has been noted that some alloy steel has been declared by traders to contain small amounts of Boron just to avail of a Most Favoured Nation tariff although the Boron is insufficient to change its mechanical, physical and chemical properties.George Bottomley - Vice President
