IT Governance unveils three ‘all-in’ packaged solutions to help UK businesses comply with the Cyber Essentials scheme

ELY, UK, July 17, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- IT Governance, the fast-growing cyber security provider and CREST-accredited certification body for the Cyber Essentials scheme, has launched three ‘all-in’ packaged solutions for certification to Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus. Each solution is a combination of products and services in a fixed-price, fit-for-use package sure to meet any organisation’s preferences for tackling compliance projects. Each of the three packaged solutions is available at a transparent price that enables every organisation to know exactly what their chosen journey to Cyber Essentials certification will cost them.

Alan Calder, Founder and Executive Chairman of IT Governance, said, “With more than a dozen companies already certified to the Cyber Essentials scheme, there is pressure on UK businesses to comply. Our aim is to offer organisations a pain-free route to compliance and cyber security. Our three solutions are unique – they offer clear deliverables and outcomes for the investment made.”

The Cyber Essentials scheme, which was officially launched on 5 June 2014 by the UK Government, was developed to keep UK business safe. It aims to offer a baseline for cyber security and sets out the key steps to manage cyber risks.

Calder adds, “The requirement for conducting external vulnerability assessments and additional internal vulnerability assessments for Cyber Essentials Plus is what gives the scheme a real credibility. The scans enable organisations to verify that their risk controls really work and uncover vulnerabilities they may not necessarily be aware of.

“The implementation of the Cyber Essentials requirements should not be driven solely by compliance pressures, but also by the far greater need to implement basic cyber security hygiene and step up UK organisations’ cyber defences, especially for SMEs.”

The Cyber Essentials Scheme applies to small- and medium-sized organisations and large companies alike. While it doesn’t replace international information security frameworks or standards, notably ISO27001, it makes the implementation of cyber security more accessible for smaller companies. British organisations that meet the assessment requirements of the scheme will be awarded a badge to demonstrate compliance. There will be two levels of compliance: Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus.

“IT Governance’s solutions for certification to the Cyber Essentials Scheme are intended to be affordable and practical for SMEs,” says Calder. “Our all-in, fixed-price solutions are aimed at SMEs with approximately 250 staff, fewer than 16 IP addresses and based in one location only, but they can be tailored to suit larger organisations.”

According to www.gov.uk, from 1 October 2014 the UK Government will require all suppliers bidding for certain contracts which are assessed as higher risk to be Cyber Essentials certified. Those that are part of the government supply chain are likely to be among the first adopters of the scheme but, as with other frameworks, it may not be long before the private sector starts using Cyber Essentials in its procurement criteria.
