Western Hemisphere: Barbados National Day
On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I send warm wishes to the people of Barbados as you celebrate the 47th anniversary of your independence on November 30.
The United States and Barbados share a long and productive history as friends and partners. Entrepreneurs, educators, artists, and journalists have strengthened the bonds between our societies and laid the foundation for continued peace and prosperity throughout the Eastern Caribbean.
Our governments and our people will continue to tackle the challenges and seize the opportunities of the 21st century, from advancing maritime security to promoting alternative energy. We are especially proud of our cooperation against transnational organized crime through the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative.
The United States is committed to working with Barbados to achieve a more prosperous and peaceful future for our hemisphere, and we look forward to strengthening our partnership in the years to come.
