Receives LEED Gold Certification

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC, USA, September 19, 2013 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The nationally recognized and award winning public safety architectural firm, Architects Design Group, in association with Rosenblum Coe Architects, is pleased to announce that the Charleston County Consolidated EOC and 9-1-1 Communications Center has received LEED® Gold certification.

The new 13.1 million dollar, 40,000 SF, EOC and 9-1-1 Communications Center located in North Charleston is the first emergency operations center in the state of South Carolina to be LEED® certified and the 14th LEED® certified emergency operations center in the United States. It was important for the facility to be designed to meet LEED® (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) standards, and was built using sustainable features that included, but were not limited to, automated building lighting controlled systems, CO2 emissions reduction, Low-E energy efficient windows, recycled materials, enhanced indoor air quality and water efficient landscaping, all in the effort of maintaining the buildings' green foot print within the community.

This critical infrastructure facility is now one of the most energy efficient buildings in the county, with the ability to protect its citizens’ livelihood by remaining operational before, during and after a major catastrophic event. Architects Design Group has designed more than 2 million square feet of public safety facilities throughout the nation, and currently has several projects submitted for LEED® certification.
