Gazprom Neft acquires new bunkering tanker for operations in the Black Sea
16 August 2013Gazpromneft Marine Bunker, the operator of Gazprom Neft's bunkering business, has acquired a bunkering tanker for operations at the seaports of the Black Sea region, including Novorossiysk, Tuapse, Port Kavkaz, as well as Temryuk, Taman, and Sochi. The tanker will be the eighth in the company's fleet.

The bunkering tanker, upon which the Russian flag was raised on August 9, has been christened Gazpromneft Nord-East. The ship was built in 2008, is 83 meters long, and can carry 2600 tons. The tanker is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and security systems, and it has unrestricted navigation and an ice class which allows it to operate even at frozen ports during the winter.
"The Black Sea region market is growing rapidly. Over the first six months of 2013 we supplied 170,000 tons of marine fuel to ships. Expanding our fleet into promising regions is one of Gazpromneft Marine Bunker's priority tasks," commented Andrei Vasiliev, the company's CEO. "By purchasing new ships, we are not simply renewing our fleet. This primarily allows us to provide quality service for our customers and increase substantially the volumes of fuel we supply."

Gazpromneft Marine Bunker is a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft created in 2007 for the organization of year-round marine fuel and lubricant supplies for sea and river transportation. The enterprise occupies leading positions on Russia's bunkering market with an 18.6 percent market share. About 85 percent of consumers of the company's services are foreign ship owners. Gazpromneft Marine Bunker's total marine fuel sales volume in 2012 reached 2.9 million tons. The amount of fuel supplied directly to ships grew by 38 percent, up to 1.8 million tons.
At present, Gazpromneft Marine Bunker has nine regional representative offices and three subsidiaries. Gazpromneft Shipping manages the company's fleet. Gazpromneft Terminal SPb operates a bunkering oil terminal at the Kirov Works in Saint Petersburg. The bunkering company Marine Bunker Balkan S.A. sells marine fuels in the Black Sea port of Constanța, Romania.
Gazpromneft Marine Bunker occupies strong positions at all key sea and river ports in Russia. At present, the company has the broadest geographical scope of operations in Russia out of all Russian bunkering companies, and has a presence in sixteen seaports and nine river ports.
