DOE Seeks Small Businesses for Waste Tracking Contract

Cincinnati - The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) seeking Small Business Administration certified (8(a)) small business firms to provide DOE Transportation Tracking and Communications (TRANSCOM) Technical Support Services. A Requirements Contract will be awarded as a result of this RFP. The contract period of performance will be one year with four one-year option periods.

The DOE TRANSCOM system continuously monitors and tracks active shipments of defense related spent nuclear fuel, radioactive/non-radioactive, hazardous, and transuranic (TRU) waste to and from DOE facilities. The selected contractor will perform all TRANSCOM monitoring and tracking functions and will manage the TRANSCOM Communication Center (TCC) located in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

To date, the DOE TRANSCOM Technical Support Services have been performed by Small Business Administration certified (8(a)) small businesses and more than 23,000 shipments have been monitored and tracked since 1992.
