WASHINGTON, D.C., Oct. 25, 2012 — Maryland Attorney General Douglas F. Gansler, who was instrumental in negotiating a $1-billion mortgage settlement for state residents, will be the luncheon keynote speaker at the American Bar Association’s Banking Law Committee Fall Meeting. The ABA Business Law Section will host the conference Nov. 1 – 3 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in,1150 22nd Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 

Banking law experts will discuss vendor management, legislation priorities, banking enforcement and consumer protection during the conference. 

Program highlights include:

“Enforcement Trends” — Panelists will focus on supervisory attention and enforcement actions affecting bank holding companies involving anti-money laundering, sanctions, consumer protection issues and vendor management. They will touch on noteworthy case studies, including the LIBOR dispute. Nov. 2, 10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

“View from the Hill” — Representatives from government agencies will discuss new financial services industry legislative proposals to address the financial crisis and provide insight into their committees’ priorities. Featured speakers include Jeanne Roslanowick, staff director/chief counsel, U.S. House Financial Services Committee; Kevin Edgar, senior counsel, House Financial Services Committee; Andrew Olmem, chief counsel (Minority), U.S. Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee; and Charles Yi, chief counsel (Majority), Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee. Nov. 2, 4:30 – 5:15 p.m.
