WASHINGTON, D.C., May 30, 2013 — Peter Neufeld, co-founder of the Innocence Project, will deliver the luncheon address during the Fourth Annual Prescriptions for Criminal Justice Forensics program hosted by the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section on June 7 at Fordham University School of Law in New York.

Speaking at 11:30 a.m., Neufeld will discuss the historic collaboration among the FBI, the Innocence Project and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers to review FBI hair microscopy cases to identify and take corrective action in cases where the original testimony or reports of examiners was incorrect.

Other experts will lead programming on legal and forensic science developments concerning bite mark evidence, shaken baby syndrome, statistics and DNA analysis in court cases.

“New and Continuing Developments in Admissibility of Forensic Science Evidence” —

Panelists will explore the Supreme Court’s Confrontation Clause decisions that affect the admissibility of forensic science evidence and how Williams v. Illinois is interpreted by state courts. June 7, 8:45 – 9:45 a.m.

“Lab Ethics and Quality Control” — Panelists will discuss the challenges faced by defense attorneys, prosecutors and lab directors when dealing with evidence that will be forensically tested or retested. June 7, 1 – 2:15 p.m.
