WASHINGTON, D.C., May 29, 2013 — William G. Young, U.S. District Court judge for the District of Massachusetts, will deliver the luncheon address at the National False Claims Act and Qui Tam Trial Institute hosted by the American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section June 5-7 at The Liaison Capitol Hill hotel in Washington, D.C.

The conference will feature legal experts on the use of the Internet in jury selection, evidence management and potential damages awarded in false claims cases.

Program highlights include:

“Damages: How Big or Small Is Your Case?” — There are a host of legal, evidentiary and practical challenges when trying to prove and rebut damages during a trial. Panelists will examine these issues and discuss how counsel, whether plaintiff-side or defense-side, can successfully address them. Thursday, June 6, 9:45 – 11 a.m.

“Jurors and Jury Selection in an Internet Age: Can You Google Your Jurors? Are They Googling You?” — The rise of the Internet and social media added new ethical challenges to jury selection and behavior. Panelists will explore the legal and ethical issues involving the use of electronic information and social media and how it affects jurors, jury selection and trials.
