Tate & Lyle’s Commercial and Food Innovation Center awarded LEED Gold Certification for Environmental Sustainability

Chicago, USA, 28 May 2013 – Tate Lyle, a leading global provider of ingredients and solutions to the food and beverage industries, announces that its Commercial and Food Innovation Center in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, US has been awarded the prestigious Gold certification by LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

LEED certification is official recognition that the design, fit-out and operation of a building complies with the requirements prescribed within the LEED rating systems of the US Green Building Council® (USGBC®). Tate Lyle’s award is in the LEED category for Commercial Interiors which recognizes working spaces in leased commercial buildings that are healthy, productive places to work, are operated and maintained efficiently, and have a reduced environmental footprint. Areas rated by LEED include water and energy efficiency, management of materials and resources, innovation in design, and the quality of the indoor environment.

BREEAM® is an environmental assessment and rating system for sustainable building design, construction and operation.
